Topic: Why we can't be complacent about rollkur/hyperflexion:

and why we can't continue to support the likes of Manky Van Gruesome, Edward Gal and the like even though they're achieving excellent scores in their tests.

This is ABUSE pure and simple mad

KWPN Stallion Watermill Scandic ridden by Swedish Patrik Kittel during a two hour session of various degrees of hyperflexion at the World Cup dressage qualifier in Odense, Denmark. Early on in the session, the horse's tongue has turned blue and limp and flops out of the stallion's mouth. Stopping the horse, the rider leans forward and fixes the problem, using the hand furthest from the camera. After this, the session is continued for a minimum of 90 minutes in the same way. This pair is trained by Dutch chef d'equipe, Sjef Janssen, who was present at the warm up arena.

Unbelievably, although predictably, Patrik Kittel has been exonerated by the FEI in the 'Blue Tongue Scandal'

The FEI investigation into the training methods used by Patrick Kittel on his horse Scandic in Odense, Denmark on 18 October 2009 has been concluded. Witness statements and video evidence have been thoroughly reviewed and the investigation finds are that there is no reliable evidence that the warm-up techniques used by Mr Kittel were excessive.

So ... it's ok to pull so hard on the reins that not only does the horse's nose almost touch his chest but his tongue becomes flaccid and blue!  If that isn't excessive what on earth is?  Maybe they're waiting until the tongue actually necroses and drops off? mad:mad::mad:
