I was thiking of dressage with my tweed jacket... but I swear the pin is designed to go vertical not horizontal :s - tell me what you think - please dont crit my knot its the first one i've done! (just taught myself big_smile ) oh and i would wear a shirt with it and button it to that, not my bare neck tongue

thats what Bach has done. looked like he had completely obliterated it on the ultrasound scan sad just at the point where we had got access to a box to go competing in, and got our jumping good sad Hes going turned away for a year now, and because of his age (28) he will never be ridden properly again. walked up the road and thats about it sad I felt really bad about it as he did it whils we were cantering up a field, but his owner who i had hoim on full loan from didnt mind.

However hes moved across the road to some other stables , as i couldnt do it all on my own (be there 2ce a day while he was on box rest etc) and it was really great to start with. but they seem to think they know whats best for him, despite what the vet said... he was supposed 2 have 6 weeks box rest, 4 weeks in a tiny paddock and then vet re-check him, but im going on hols soon, and one person there who was helping me look after him decided it would be easiest to keep him outside, take off his supposrt bandges and give him a paddock the size of 6 large stables - not 2 - after 4 days she then doubles the size - all without asking me! I would have been happy to turn him out a bit sooner, but not into such a large paddock... As they are letting us keep bach there and helping to care for him, i feel bad going against their idea, esp, when one of them has alot of experiance. i just feel like hes been taken away and that hes not much to do woth me anymore sad. his woner dosnt mind, but isnt very horsey anyway.....
am i overreacting & being ungrateful?

sorry rant over sad

on the other hand, i have found another horse to ride, who is brilliant, a bit bigger and younger too. so i will hopefully ride him till im off to uni!!

xx

Cocking a hind leg is often a sign of stringhalt and strighalts are sometimes considered as a form of lameness. A friend of mine owned a horse with stringhalt which caused her no end of problems, no least that he kept turning himself over as it was paticularly violent at times. However it might also be something called 'Shivers' (another involuntary muscle spasm) I guess the only trouble with this is that if the horse has a particularly bad attack it can have a leg cocked for several minutes and be unable to move comfortably. In my opinion I would rather start off with a clean slate and no existing problems to sort out or deal with/pay for!! Good luck with finding a horse!

My horse Bach has stringhalt, But Ive never had any problems with it in the 3 years ive had him. I jump and do lateral work with him and have never had a problem. vet said it wa sfine. It could have been corrected by an op, but he would have had to have had it 15 or more years ago. It rarely bothers him. I get people stopping and asking if hes lame all the time though, and I have to explain - very frustrating ! smile x

Hi Kelly

To be honest with you I go on price, I love a bargain. I often go to decathlon in town to buy clothes for riding as they are good on price. I will often though treat myself to an expensive product though. After all we all deserve to treat ourselves lol. But I do like Toggie and Joules clothing.

Theres a decathalon in England???!!!!!!!

I tend to go cheap (leadropes, brushes), but If I am buying something I need to rely on  - eg clippers or tack I go branded, and clothes Im a bit of both. If I like it, its nicest if its cheap but its a bonus to have the logo wink Im a sucker for branding smile xx

Well I am not great at this but... Hes quite young? 5? and I am not great with breeds, 15hh? My friend has a Connie that looks like him... but the connies on the website look nothing like him or my friends horse! But I will put that in as my guess even though the definition of confirmation is wrong... :S lol xxx

It is just another hard hitting story that reminds you how dangerous riding can be... sad xx

Blimey - sounded rather horrific! The horse Died?! It must have suffered some internal injusry or something or been caught by the waves... The beach isnt exactly the place where fatal equine accidents usually happen :S I hope the lady is ok.... xx

a bit more tongue xx

Are there any trees or anything that could form a wind barrier in the field? I know quite a few horses who dont have a shelter, However Bach uses his alot. Think about it though, they wouldnt have a man made one in the wild. If you clip them, rug them up well, especially if its cold and/or wet, but I think they will be ok, esp. if they are hardy natives they should be ok smile x
