New To Wikis
Wikis are simply a set of web pages that can be easily created and updated by members of a community.
Wiki Page Names
The names of wiki pages have a special format:
- They are usually made up of more than one word.
- The first letter of each word is uppercase.
- There are no spaces between the words.
Wherever you see a wiki page name, you can click on it to visit that page.
Here is a an example:
EquiPortal
If no one has added any content for the page, the wiki page name will be underlined with dashes.
Here is an example:
NoPageHere (
please don't create this page)
If you click on a page name that hasn't been created you will be dropped in to an editor that you can use to create the page.
Click on the sample link above to see the editor (
don't store the page) and then click the back button on your browser to return here.
Adding Your Comments
Anyone (including guests) can add comments to pages.
Click the
Add Comment link at the bottom of the page, try it on this page if you like.
If you can't see the link you may need to click the
Display Comment link first.
Making Changes
On pages that you are allowed to change (not including this one), you will see an
Edit link on the bottom of the page. Simply click the link to change the contents of the page.
You will be dropped in to an editor where you can make any changes you like. We keep a history of all changes so if someone deletes your article we can easily get it back for you. We monitor the changes that are being made to ensure no one is abusing the site.
If you disagree with an article, it may be better to add comments giving your point of view rather than upset the original author by changing their article.
And Finally
You should now be able to browse the wiki, add comments to pages and maybe make simple changes.
When you are ready to add your own pages or make more advanced changes follow our tutorial
YourFirstArticle.
